Located in the Historical Village of Youngstown, NY is Four Mile Creek State Park. It is so named because it is located 4 miles from the mouth of the Niagara River. Here, you will find some of the best waterfront camping the area has to offer, and we know, since this one is only 10 minutes from our home in Lewiston, NY. Don’t be fooled by other campgrounds that are closer to Lewiston or Niagara Falls.. Four Mile Creek State Park is the best park in the area.
The campground itself has 275 sites, 10 of which are 50 amp sites. There are 129, 30 amp sites, and 136, non-electric sites. If you don’t own a camper or tent, you could choose to stay in one of their 3 yurts that have electricity, refrigerator, microwave and heat or AC. There are laundry facilities, 2 playgrounds, pavilions, a camp store, three dump stations, and fantastic things to do nearby, including a golf course just outside of the park. Discount tickets are offered for the Maid of the Mist Boat tour (adult tickets $28.95) and the Cave of the Winds, ($21.00 adult) which both get you up close and personal to Niagara Falls. Another highly recommended treat is the Niagara Jet Boat, which takes you up the class 6 rapids created by the flow of water from Niagara Falls. $65. adult/ $39.95 age 12 and under (Niagara County residents can get a discount on their website). If you like a good hike, we suggest the 2 mile loop tour between Devil’s Hole State Park & Whirlpool State Park where you will descend 300 vertical feet of stairs to get right up close to the river’s edge. For a fun activity for the kids, head to Niagara Power Vista where kids can learn about electricity with interactive displays for no charge. Across the street from the Power Authority is Niagara University campus which houses the Castellani Art Museum, and it’s FREE! Niagara Falls also has a small Aquarium. General adult admission is $19.95 per person. Looking to catch a concert? Check out nearby Artpark for their event calendar.
